Welcome to Hereford Canine Hydrocare...
Hereford Canine Hydrocare is run by Helen White and Sally Worthing. Sally is a Veterinary nurse who has a diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing. Between us we have many years of animal care experience. Rehabilitation of dogs has always interested us and with much encouragement and support from our husbands we decided to build the hydrotherapy centre.
We are a local company, and as such are tailoring our services to suit the needs of the county offering pioneering new services such as the mobile hydrotherapy unit allowing us to come to you!
Could hydrotherapy help my dog?
Hydrotherapy can help with:
- Post operative rehabilitation - following orthopaedic surgery e.g. fracture or ligament repair. It can be beneficial pre operatively to introduce your dog to the water in preparation for post operative therapy.
- Skeletal and muscular disorders e.g. hip and elbow dysplasia, OCD, CDRM
Recovery from neurological conditions e.g. following spinal surgery or disease, peripheral nerve injury, or long periods of cage rest.
- Arthritis / old age—increases mobility and flexibility of affected joints and maintains fitness.
- Weight reduction physical exercise in conjunction with a dietary program devised by your dog’s vet.
- General fitness or stamina training— controlled swimming and water walking can benefit agility, working dogs and show dogs as part of their fitness regime.
Can any dog swim?
Most dogs are naturally able to swim, some breeds better than others. Some dogs take more time to introduce to the water—this is done gently and patiently. If your dog shows extreme nervousness or aggression, we may feel that hydrotherapy is inappropriate. Some medical conditions and diseases prohibit the use of hydrotherapy. We are always guided by your Veterinary Surgeon.
